It was an exciting and challenging today. Went to Kupo's house with Kapo to tackle the problem of linksys ADSL gateway not connecting to the ADSL line. After 2 hours of tingling and cracking the router, it seemed that it would be a history of what happened at Niki's house.

残念でした。今回がではありません。It was luck that we managed to find out the correct settings (VCI = 100), and finally connected and login to the ADSL SINGNET.
In conclusion, singnet sucks. Cable did everything in 5 minutes. Singnet 3 hours, assuming that both cases there are no prior knowledge of networking. Case closed.

Disturbing News
I realise I have a liking to eat plain bread. I dont know why. Somehow the taste of it is beautiful, the slowly soaking of the bread sensation in my mouth simply takes away my breath. Oh well, to tell you the truth, i'm trying *really hard* to make eatin plain bread sound interesting and rewarding. But it really isnt. After awhile you get bored. It beats eating lots of junk food though. The main purpose is to satisfy your dying desire to munch and chew on something. It prevents obesity.
In other news, I have a vision. A vision of the future. In the near future, miniaturization (however its spelled) will pwn human meanings. Human are after all, just human. Robots cant have mistakes, and very soon, some idiot will invent an algorithm that can self-correct itself, bugs- or exploits-wise. This is the truth I see in the future. that idiot will get a nobel prize, and then soon earth will be taken over by the robots.
Then robots will decorate themselves with human mind, and soon a new species will be born in the image of robots but disgused as humans. Because after all, what robots want is to be come humane. Yes. That is the truth.
Ok that was the overall big picture. Many events have to happen before that can actualyl happen. If you understand the Matrix, then you understand my story. If you do not understand, then you will begin to understand in due time.

IPOD APPLE vs. NW-HD3 SONY
first things first, this is a comparison of the ipod mini/ ipod normal vs. the sony newest NW-HD3 which is basically what the ipods are, a 20gb mp3 player. i'm sure most of you are familiar with what the ipod is about. I apologise that no photos are currently shown now, I will upload them when I get a good shot.
The ipod 20gb variant is priced at S$528, while the sony NW-HD3 is priced at S$569. This should set a constrast that the NW-HD3 should offer better .. specifications. Now let's break this down into a few points.
a) form factor.
the sony is only slightly wider than the ipod mini, with teh same thickness. This means that its very much smaller than the ipod 20gb. The colors of the mp3 players have many variations. It was noted however that apple's website showcases a different 'feel' from teh actual view, and many were actually put off by this. the sony variant showed it as it is.
Win: Sony NW-HD3
b) Menus / Interface and Program
there is no wheel touchpad on the sony, after all this is a trademark of apple. however in place of this, sony has 2 other buttons, menu and mode. this allows quick access to anything you want. In note of this, when viewing a song title, it was automatically scrolled when it is too long for the screen, this does not happen for the apple ipod. Next comes the most abhorrent thing of the Sony NW-HD3, which is the SonicStage software. If anything was to say about SonicStage, is that it sucks. Installing it on my older computer, it couldnt even initialising. Installing it on my new computer, it took quiet a long time and registered several new things which I have no idea what it is for. Then my computer totally screwed up, the 'my computer" simply couldnt work, I cant open ANY explorer windows which would reset my explorer.exe. That is okay for I manage to set things back to normal with a new account, and teh SonicStage actually worked this time. When first booted up, i KNEW that i am going to have a hard time doing things. first the songs are not organised well, and the play list is so freaking small I had to scroll so many times to view a good list. there are so many little things that i'm just not happy with i'll just put up a screen shot later. The only thing about the Sonic Stage ? well its to send files to the mp3 player. Period.
The iTunes on the other hand, is very organised and simple to sync with the ipod. Just drag and put the song files, settled. You can even setup play lists before syncing. The only problem I have is WHY do the music files have to go into the library first? Imagine 10,000 songs and you have to load that library every time.
Win: Apple iTunes/iPod
3) Cool factor.
What with all the hype and the scrolling wheel, apple wins hands down here. However it is getting very very common to see ipods around that its not really THAT cool anymore. Hence it really comes to a draw here. At least the NW-HD3 is very metallic and that somehow gives me a more cool feel. Opinion may vary here.

4) Audio Quality
To compete in this category, I recorded 320kbps of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor BMV565 by the Boston Symphony Orchestra for the classical and Avril's Lavigne Take Me Away for the pop music. In both cases, somehow sony's output sounded nicer using the respectively given headphones (rather cheap). Note that no effects were used for both mp3 players. I'm not sure why the audistics are towards the Sony though. More experimenting needs to be done and then I will give a better description. Such as when I buy the Shure E3C headphones. For now..

The Apple iPOD is MADE IN CHINA and the NW-HD3 is MADE IN JAPAN. This is a very important thing in my opinion.

The Wrath of Carnax .. or Elisa
but fate has it, that I cant really lose... but the outcome is actually I lost. :) That's all for today. The Wrath of Carnax!
At the beginning of the battle, it was pretty obvious that I would lose. Although I have the legendary golden shield, I dont have anything else. Carnax on the other hand, seldom uses melee attack and tends to use magic/ranged. It's melee attack is a devastasting strike from both hands that I couldnt block even with 52 melee def. If you thought Grimfang was powerful, check Carnax. I heard there was a Mr.Worm.
Pogo Chess vs. Yahoo Chess
I stumbled across pogo chess about 6 years ago, and yahoo chess only about 2 years ago. I have stayed faithful to pogo all these years and never really touched yahoo after the first encounter with it. Anyone who played both variants will notice the great varsity between the two.
First, pogo's chess pieces are actually different from each other at one glance. Yahoo, on the other hand, has similar pics to represent the pieces. You can hardly tell a pawn from a bishop with a look. Secondly, pogo's interface is simple and straightforward, you can set the time, the time added after each move, rated or unrated, limits etc. Yahoo's interface has the same features, but everything is draped with a dry-grey-lightgrey-darkgrey look that simply turns me off. Admittedly, I'm not a fanatic of colors and design, but not putting effort into a web-game enjoyed by thousands is not my taste. If you are wondering, yes the chess board is a light grey, and the pieces are a grey. Maybe it has changed over the years. Third point, in pogo, tables are set in an organised manner. You can actually see the games. In my opinion, this gives a more user-friendly outlook. Yahoo, on the other hand, with its grey manner, is just rows and rows of games. I dotn even bother to choose.
Both systems have its flaw. And that lies in using a slow java applet system that consistently screws up. For example, one minute games. Sometimes the user gets excited and moves the piece too fast before the system actually catches it. This boots the user out and a loss is accorded automatically. This is unfair.
Finally to sum it up, pogo chess is definitely better. However, there are 5 times more people in yahoo chess than in pogo. This is a clear demonstration of superior marketing as compared to a fairly unknown pogo.com . If google.com comes up with a chess and advertised it, it will be equal to yahoo in terms of popularity, at least.

This IS the latest game I'm playing, believe it or not. It is also known as AdventureQuest, or Battleon. Found at battleon.com. Its really surprising when I find Kupo first playing it, I thought it sucked. Now I'm playing it for the past 5 hours.. In this picture, it showcases my D-r-a-g-o-n Blade and I'm slaying the Darkwing Dragon. If you are interested to know what happened next, well I froze him with DragonFreeze and then killed him easily. That's all for today folks!

Sigh.. Proteomics. This was a note taken from the first tutorial. Interesting how fast its all going to end. Today was a good proteomics revision day. 5 lectures revised in 4 hours. Rather slow, but of course in between hours is pre-empted with anime shows, music.. crap talks.. Truly life is so enjoyable we just never see it coming. 24th Proteomics final exam, 29th HT final exam, and after that 7th Apr External Presentation. and after that, its time to go back to my mother land. Ja~ mata.

A rather sad KOTOR 2 bug... you can keep spawning the guys behind the main cast of the picture.. intrigueing yes.. but if anyone who has played KOTOR2, its ridden with bugs and plot holes... KOTOR 1 was a much better piece .. but as star wars fans, who cares.. By the way, Star Wars Episode III is supposed to be out on May 19th. The trailer owns.

This is my desktop at the moment. It's one of the better pieces I found around the net, forgot who the artist was (ごめん ね). But anyway, the background is the only thing I have to lament about. Good night peoples. Proteomics test and LSSS test upcoming with the puny HT practical "exam" by Dr Forday that never makes its mark. However I must remark at this moment that while simplicity is straightforward, mastering it is another matter. This leads on to my next point, which alot of people nowadays just cannot seem to understand. Don't be overly proud. It's ok to flaunt knowing that you are not pro, but flaunting your ignorance is antoher thing. With all due respects, people who rebelled and protested against the 2,000 concentration of the unknown in monday's IL2 practical exam deserved a tight smack. Huang Yang was so devastated by you people. She was sooo upset she's forgetting stuff. If you cannot do serial dilutions, if you cannot do graphs, if you cannto do best-fit macademian lines, who are you to criticize?

Finally. It took my sister bloody 3.5 hours to finish the rebonding process, and it only took me 10 minutes to finish my haircut + wash + comb. This only amplifies the constrasting effects of expensive stuff and cheap stuff ($101 vs. $10). By teh way, from the photo, you can see I just had alot of beer. I'm drunk. My sister as usual is trying to act cute. I sigh.
