life almost flew away~

it's one of those times when u truly felt that your life was near the edge. I went to cycle in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve Moutain Bike Trail. My God, being my first trail , i had no idea it would be this difficult. Most of the upslopes are literally energy depleting. By the time I reached near the summit, I was feeling giddy and nausea due to the lack of oxygen. There were too many trees and it was 7pm. Darkness was coming in fast and i couldn't move. I felt like if I inched one more step i would faint. But it was good, my friends were there for me, so I rested and the reached the summit. It was beautiful. Well worth the climb. The down hill was exciting and many times I almost , almost went into the endless dark slopes. But I survived, downrocketing at neck breaking speeds. It was gerat.

161st Post

I realise its my 161st post... Can't cope with my studies (never thought I would actually be saying this) but yes, I can't. Not until I give up gaming and some additional activities then can I say i'm coping with my studies. 2 projects draw near and one of the projects is literally a solo work, since the other team members seem to be non-chalant about it. I can't afford to get any more Cs if I hope to get a research project for my 3rd year. But I cant help feeling that I'll get a C or 2 this semester. Still finding it very difficult to think nowadays, my head still feels like its in a mud pool, sometimes it gets a little painful. I'm not sure. Hopefully if I adapt a earlier sleeping time and having done (and doing) several changes to my lifestyle, the problem will go away.

Add two more pictures. All taken using IXUS 80 with CFW.

Family-side: Isnt getting any better. It's impossible to say at this moment what will become of it. Everyone is just too different. And they don't seem to understand we're all different and we must respect each other. Cohesion doesn't come from a common goal, rather, it comes from an understanding of our differences. Or maybe both.

Many of you could be more unfortunate than me. But fear not, hang on to your beliefs and face the new future that awaits you!

New Insights in Cancer

Why do people hate cancer? Why do people devise means and ways to suppress cancer? Has not Nature shown us that we're always evolving to be better? Why do we fight?

All to destroy Gods.

I believe that cancer is nature's way of making us becoming immortal. All past events have pointed to this. Do not expect me to draw statistical lies, useless graphs, diagrams. It is just it is. Cancer is the way to becoming immortal. Up till now, everyone has failed. Maybe someday, someone will. But if we keep trying to suppress it, we'll never become immortals.

And now I think I've something going on in my head. Could be a tumor. But lately, I havent been able to think properly, always in a blockade. Understanding things become very difficult, thinking became a muddy task. Maybe its my time... I dont know.

Reminescence. I have forgotten how to spell not the word.

And this is one of the receipts dating back from May 2008 in Tokyo. Surprising that I still have it!

Curse

Call it a malediction, or a curse. It doesn't matter. The ethereal cool air those nights, succulent with the most dulcet and sweetest of breeze, coupled with the occassional blink of sunlight, made me forget where I placed my preciouse pencil case. Imbued with jejune languor, I refused to believe I've lost it till today. I was right to think so. It was like this loquacious whisper that was also like a neverending drum, always adumbrating to me that I've lost it, every hour, every minute. And I spent the dear $30 today to restock an inventory with a $9.95 case. And then by the end of the day, like some sneaky little mouse that had surreptitiously creeped up on my shoulder, it dawned to me that it was possible after all that I've misplaced it. And then my brother revealed the greatest plan, like the epiphany that had dawned upon Newton, that it was all along in the car. Distraught, hackened with pain and sorrow, I could only sit dumbfounded, inuring to the mellifluous warm words of "Ten Years" erstwhile.

Give My Love

It's a long time since I blogged with more words than pictures. I guess this is one of those times when I'm suddenly grabbed by an unseen hand by the arm and forced to write. We had a talk that lasted an hour and a half. Like some holy conscience that descended upon me from above, I took the initiative and began the ritual of questions and self exploration. It was long and there were awkward moments, but understanding was reached. I remembered how dark and quiet the night was, broken by the occassional slap of the wind against the window panes. Refreshing it in my memories, I find myself injecting new forms of advertisement and descriptions which I could not have possibly grasped up till now. A new start has begun again although one could only wonder how long it can last before it ends.

I wonder whether it was purely chance that brought us into this world. As much as I want to believe that as we were as champions, little sperms that were struggling in that life-or-death swim towards the eggs that have won, i also believe that it was an entire chance position. Life as itself, in an unfathomable depthless entity continues to intrigue me and prevent me from givign up on it. Confidence built upon layers of experiences of joy, love, remorse, guilt and strikingly nonsensical ideas was given and rewarded to those who are willing to brave the new fronts. As much as I want to hold you and tell you how much I envision in our future and the plans I have for it, it was not easy, my throat constantly choked and without words. Yes , like the song without words, it was an act without words, just electricity shooting randomly, all but hitting us.

Sitting down here, I also realise the sheer enormity of having slacked the entire 3 months of holiday away, including the slow, agonising first week of school. While everyone around me has frantically began to pick up books, in a mad rush to remain the top students, I have all but remained a himono otoko (dried fish man), trapped in the merciless cycle of Lazy. It has come, the new semester and with it, new challenges of which I have sworn to fight against. The intensity of this cruel entry into yet another semester has reminded me of my past failures. I picked up my abandoned highlighter, which was surprisingly still working well, and began to read pages of books which were once uninteresting and dull to me. The wonders of the science world slowly fall back into place, like a domino train, it slowly cascaded and took me unabashed with it into this amazing universe where so many have went unknowing of its vivacious lure and never returned. Interest is cultivated, and my pitiable soul was entangled by these white lines of pure fire. Yet even then, I hope that I can reach out with what left of my feeble strength, and show you the wonders which heaven has so granted me. I want to share with you the splendour and tango of this world.

Continues

IT continues. Now Apple announces that the new 3G Iphone will sell for $199 USD worldwide (8gb) and $299 USD (16gb). My phone which used to cost $500-$800 now cost less than $250, assuming brand new. How sad?

A Series of Unfortunate Events

I don't know if there's a japanese equivalent for this phrase, but life has not been that forgiving and instead has been rather harsh the past week. Thankfully, I have my bro to go through this with me, and of course, the rest of the family. In chronological order:

1. A screwed up moded Wii.

So I bought a Wii from queensway shoppin centre. The auntie there said it was wiikey (the name of the mod) the other time I inequired and when I went there the 2nd time (which aws about 3 weeks later) it was an uncle (her husband) and he said he didnt know what mod it was. So I made the sinfully wrong assumptuion that it will be the same. It turned out to be an unknown modchip caleld "wii like" which im sure is just a wiikey clone that cannot be updated.

The Wii ($590 total)

2. Iphone spoils ($500-$600 deal)

I spent a great deal of time tinkering with the Wii and I really really had to do alot of trial and error. And on the last day of trials, I dropped my iphone and it was destroyed. Bottom half screen can no longer work even though it displays perfectly.

3. Jap-phone turned scam ($550 deal)

I bought a jap-phone, a Docomo P905I from vr-zone forums. I've always wanted a j-phone. Guy assured me (as was his advert) that working condition is 10/10 and physical condition is 9/10 (with the 9 being one minor scratch which I couldnt even see). On the testing day, everything was perfect. It remained perfect for another day utnil the 3rd day, when things started to go wrong. The phone would auto-shutdown for no reason, be it clammed shut, half-way thru smsing, left open without any keys pressed.. And "hypersim ready" sign would pop up every now and then. I tried tinkering with the settings and now the phone wouldnt connect to GSM network. (Hypersim is the bypass for local sim cards to work with the phone)

The Phones, Left to Right: Nokia Old, Nokia Old 2, Iphone, P905I, box of P905I , top is hypersim container. (Total : $1400++)

Close up of the keypad of P905I

So i'm left with the old nokia phones to use. Interesting what you can count on when things go wrong.

I liked the phones. T_T

To top it off, as I finish this post, my parents are shouting at each other. I really don't understand. I really don't.

And so it all ends

Well, its not so bad. but it has ended, the 12 days of relaxation and exploration. now it is time to get back to reality. haha. a lazy slumber into the holidays. so let me continue the saga.

recall that i was double pangsehed by the duo during Friday. the last day (sat) i got an sms from ww tt he is coming back. okay, so apparently, he went to tsukuji market on his own decision @ 3 AM in the morning on a taxi, ate the best sushi he thought there was, and stayed at a hotel somewhere else and slept from 3 PM to 10 AM. what about wl? she came back with her 2 newly made frens at 12++am of Sunday, and totally ignored me, even tho the other 2 frens greeted me and asked abt the departure time and why am i not sleepin tt kinda usual formalities, dis wl just plain ignored. no idea what went wrong still man.

back @ home, there's some kinda war going on. dad trying to play angel again, mum becoming a devil and poking @ him everywhere possible. we all know dad is in the wrong, and i can only stand at the sideberth and watch. had karoake with sis and relatives yesterday evening to night. had to be a backup singer for almost all the songs! luckily the japan trip has trained my throat and it doesnt hurt at all xD

Pics, in no particular order:
Dis is great great great mega-muffin which is not available in singapore mcdonalds. Its a breakfast set that actually is more fattening than the singapore's any mcmuffin. just see for urself. its really nice too.

A poster of wanted criminals in Nikko (right side), advertisement for recruitment to police force (left)

Lush green and wonderful water along the residential areas of Nikko

The really really blue water under the bridge of Shinkyo, which is a sacred bridge that u are not allowed on unless you pay. which kinda defeats the sacredness.

U know u saw those pics of screwed up english right? here's one.

Shibuya at night. Ok it was a badly shaked picture but its still cool.

The park in Harajuku. not sure whats its name, but alot of ppl having picnic there. it was a sunday.

Really cool advertisement/art I saw in Shibuya backstreet.

Bunch of people who look like Naruto cosplay.. but its actually some festival happening in the MIDDLE of Shibuya that stretched for quite abit. 2km?

Lots of girls, and its 99% girls, fangirls of a boyband in Harajuku. Their voice isnt amazing, they dont really look good too, wonder whats their charm?

Cosplayers? Dont knwo what u call dis, but its in Harajuku.

Free huggers that got physically defeated. Haha.

What you call dis.. Almost-skyscraper-level posters of anime? Damn cool.

Young girls taking picture of temple.

Here's the random schoolgirl on the streets of Shibuya on a weekday afternoon. Did they have skip school? Hard to say.

Two dogs from two totally strangers. They went to each other and decide to have their dogs lash out at each other.

Ninja kiddo at the queue area of Ueno zoo. Caught on cam.

Yet another schoolgirl (for some reason there are no or very little schoolboys) drawing in Ueno Zoo. There's alot of them all around.

Lovely kids in Ueno Zoo. They are more attractive than the animals there :x

Kid who got knocked out. He was there for quite awhile.

Kid amazed by his own shadow.

Salamander. Cool Cool Cool.

Yes the great Todai. Forgot the campus name but its the one for undergraduate. It was really cool to walk in this uni.

Ok here ends this long list of pictures. There's a ton more for subscribers only. The kids in Japan are so spastic they end up being so cute. Not sure what to say about that..

b o r e d

had an incident two nights ago when a Thai staying at the hostel came back to report that his wife of 26yo is missing @ Ueno from 930pm. after overhearing their long-heated but otherwise pointless discussion, I decided to go search for his wife at the Ueno station instead of waiting for the police. It was 12am+ therefore have to walk there as the train stations are closed. wl came along. it was about a 30 min walk to Ueno from Asakusa. to our luck, found the wife at the ueno station, she has waited patiently for her husband to come back to her for nearly 3 hrs! had some fun chatting with the local police and the higher rank plainsclothes police and the conflict was resolved. their police can be really nice people and badasses. and they are very careful. even when the plainsclothes police come and collect the girl, they dont want to let him (the local ones) as they must make sure its the real police. anyway, was a really dramatic scene as we saw the two couples hug and cried. x)

on tokyo: the more u think about it, Tokyo's nothing much. It's just a bigger version of Singapore - that means wider variety of clothes, cars, people, personality, problems, and such. buildings are also alot bigger, and the heritage is very much older. that's what I like most about Japan, the shrines and stuff. The newer fashionists kinda gets on my nerves.

on my predicament: got double backstabbed by ww and wl today when i woke up to find both of them disappeared from the hostel. plan was to meet at 630am in hostel then go tsukuji market but all of them are gone! smsed ww and he said he will be back TMR. like wtf. is this sad or what? rofl. didn even bother to sms wl with her pms attitude. she never replies anyway, just to save that few cents so she can spend on more clothes. Therefore, here am I, camping in the hostel with red-alert amount of money, wasting time away like a true nipponjin! ^_^ (btw, i'm not angry or anything)

i tried uploadin pics just now and it hung. 2nd try and it worked but really upload very slow.

The area where i'm staying in - Asakusa. Some people stay it is a tourist trap but I dont think so. There are many nice people here and I havet encountered any ridiculously priced items..

Here's a shot of Sakura flower in Chuzenji. What luck to find it XD

A nice bowl of udon

Akihabara

An old man being lead on by a 'maid' !!

oh and I forgot to mention. I entered Todai (aka tokyo university, #1 in Asia) yesterday :) the number of pretty chicks and handsome dudes dramatically decreases as the intellectual threshold goes higher it seems. haha, juz like in SG. its a place where alot of people are studying, everywhere on benches, libraries, canteen... pics are in my cam and cant be uploaded atm.. went past a few of their ENGLISH classes and I could spot mistakes on the blackboard instantly. now we know why their english sucks.

took me a really long time to upload the pics. back in sg it will be easier. so laters for now. i'm actually missing SG. gonna get myself some mee pok with more spicy more mee :P

also, heard that things are going very badly at home.. i feel helpless there's nothing i can do abt it. its not something we can do about? or can we do something about it? hang in there..

getting bored!

not bad. i think i've assimilated into japan, and understand more about their culture and lifestyle. There are many things that are different, weird even, and exotic here, and is very hard to put into words. Descriptions are never enough, come to Jpn to experience for urself XD

Bought a kimono/yukata today @ 12800 yen, abt $168 SGD. Its very nice. So from today until last day i'll be on budget mode!

so i'm getting bored. no money makes you a dull man in japan. well there cheap stuff, but it never gets too cheap, its just plain above 300 yen haha, and transport is quite a bit of money too. camped most of my day in the hostel (went out at 10, came back at 4, slept until 10pm...) its becoming like an ordinary life instead of a tourist life!

Short Update

Alright, before my time runs out in this cybercafe (http://www.gcc-bagus.jp/) i am going to do a short update. Visited Nikko the past one day and half of today, and went to shibuya after. Nikko has to be one of the more relaxing places, and the Hotori-an inn is a nice, very comfortable, and quiet place, with gushing water constantly sounding in the background. Shibuya is very busy, and the renowned cross roads that you can walk anywhere when the green man is on is really infamous. Very fun to just walk for lameness. Very hip stuff here too, i feel too old for this stuff. Prices are high too. Will look for whale meat the next time i get here as planned.

So far, I havent bought much stuff here. Most of the money was spent on food and accomodation and transport. Each meal at the very least costs 500 yen (abt $6~~ SGD), and i usually go above 1000 yen ($13~~SGD). Hoping to reduce that. haha.

This cybercafe i am in is very well furnished. Got insane amoutns of comics, lots of DVDs movies, games, and the internet here is very fast. Speedtest with SG Server showed 40mb/s download rate and 4.5mb/s upload rate. Amazing isnt it.

Oh, finally, there are alot of pretty girls in Japan too. Dressed up to the max too. Now its kinda like normal already. haha. Laters.

First Day in Japan

So i managed to reach Khaosan Smile !!! So happy. Our first day here, we drank some very strong whiskey, and wei wei has been destroyed. frankly, i'm perfectly fine, dunno why also. innate power? so bro and sis if u read dis dont tell mum and dad hor.

our flight was faster than the stated time, even if there were some delays. 1015 ard there set off from singapore, then reach hong kong at about 1420 hrs, transit took abit of time as there was a crowd, by the time we entered CX500 (HKG -- JPN) it was already 1455 hrs (supposed to report at 1440 last call). but its ok since it was crowded (everyone else was delayed also). so we went in, and it was another 3 hrs flight, finally reached Narita airport at 2000 hrs. there was delay there too , taxiing around for 20-30 mins. Expected time was actually 2015 hrs. so we were still earlier by 15 minutes.

when we actually reached there, called Smile (the hostel we were supposed to stay in), and told them we gonna check in late during the queueing up for passport check. It was really long and it seems they are doing overtime too ( the staff). wonder what went wrong. Later, we asked one of the train dudes what train to take to asakusa. we were told to take to AOTO and then change train to Asakusa. It was kinda fun, ticket costs $14 SGD each, took about 1 hr 20 minutes total time. Really fun and exciting cos we didnt know if we took the correct train. we went and just stopped at AOTO as was told, and then we just took the opposite train without knowing whether it will reach Asakusa. jheng it did X) Used some of my learnt japanese on the way, it was good to know japanese after all xD

when we reached Smile, which took abit of navigation, we foudn the rooms really small and narrow. but that was expected in a way, u get what u paid for ($30/night). heng there's free internet (4 coms in total) and its usually occupied. so i'm only typing this in the wee hours :p 0200 hrs where everyone else has retired or gone .

we decided our first night in tokyo cant be spent to simply just sleeping. wanted to stay till 4 am, but wei wei couldnt take it after drinking the first whiskey which was really , admittedly powerful, and he said to sleep first. shower is supposedly on 2nd level but its locked, dunno how to go in as we are late check-in. so my first nite, is unfortunately without showering lmao.

THE REST OF THE 10-11 days will be fun! hope i'll have a chance to update. weiling will be joinig us tomorrow at 1000-1200 hrs at asakusa station. hopefully, we are awake by then. i'm really quite scared of dis part. haha.

no pictures as of now, because i have no USB connector. forgot to bring, and damn that weiwei never say he bringing laptop. maybe i'll buy one tmr at akihabara. gd nite X)
