a divided family

aha.. a recent barrage of posts, due to the stress from examinations and deadline due for lots of essays. anyhow, today, in a short post (since i only have about 5 minutes), to analyse the reasons behind a divided family.

has there ever been shown that there's an association with a certain type of personality and a divided family? First, let's define some terms. What makes a family broken or divided? As the word implies, it means that the individuals inside the family do not give a shit about each other and/or lack communication, care only for themselves, mount a layer of tatemae (建前) even when next to each other. A lack of security and self-being, among other things. You get the drift.

Personality associated with the parent, either the Dad or the Mum, usually leads to a certain type of personality being passed down to the kids, regardless of whether it be genetical, or societal. Therein of course, the cause and effect cycle. The main problem lies with the parents. If a parent has a lot of 'face', and is very stubborn (as is the typical japanese family), often this results in a divided family. However, hardly any research has been made into this, mainly because it is not easy.

And hence, we have the typical kid planned the activities for the entire weekend to catch up with schoolwork, a really sincere one, only to be destroyed by a parent's whim to make his/her kid work the weekends off, often at low wages or none at all. Not that it matters when one has failing grades, you don't really care about money anymore right?

The philosopher would say, that everything will work out in the end. A true man (or woman) will be able to sort out the complications and emerge stronger.

Yes. Often true of strong minded people.

But what of those of weak resolve, and disease to accompany them with? Many a times, I've witnessed great people with great personality fall prey to diseases and circumstances.

Such paradoxical world.
